Adornment refers to the act of decorating or embellishing the face, body, or objects with ornaments, jewellery, or other decorative elements. In ancient civilisations, adornment of the face and body served various purposes, such as cultural expression, religious or spiritual significance, social status, and even protection. It was often seen as a way to communicate identity, beliefs, and values.

In modern times, when Gen-Z adds crystals to their eye makeup, it can be seen as a form of self-expression, artistic creativity, and embracing individuality. It may also draw inspiration from the allure of ancient civilisations, appreciating the historical significance of adornment and integrating it into contemporary fashion and beauty trends. The current advertising campaigns of Swarovski crystals may have influenced this trend by showcasing how crystals can enhance one’s appearance and add a touch of glamour to makeup looks.
