Geometrix

London based photographer Rupert Vandervell finds beauty combining light, form and human presence in the spaces that surround us.

The Geometrix series is about a combination of light, shade and human form that comes together in aesthetic harmony, creating a special geometric relationship. These pictures are about clean lines, angles, shapes and textures in the urban landscape and their abstract collaboration.

The juxtaposition of the built environment and the human form is a recurring theme in my work. Against the harshness of the towering blocks of brick, concrete and glass roam fragile passers-by on never ending journeys. These figures, often faceless, viewed from behind or simply reduced to silhouettes are an important element for me.

It’s not who they are or what they might be doing that concerns me but purely how they fit into a scene.
