Photographer Kyle de Vre works every Tuesday at Sophie’s Bar in New York’s Lower East Side. During his shift, he spends time taking pictures of friends and locals with his Hasselblad.

Kyle de Ver has been working on this project for the past 4 years and released the first edition of the project as a book in September 2018. He has been working the Tuesday shift at Sophie’s Bar for the last 7 years. One day in early 2017 he decided to bring his Hasselblad to work and asked one of his friends to take a portrait of her.

When he got home, he processed the film and loved the image so much that he decided to continue and shoot all of his friends this way.

Kyle hasn’t released the full project yet, which will include all of the original portraits taken in 2017, and the portraits he has taken since. These images included here are all taken after the book was released and provides a little preview of what’s to come next!

“The project came about really organically, and before I knew it I had about 70 portraits and a self published book.”

”The images are all people I know fairly well, and would ask to come in for portraits.”

“My neighbourhood and friends are very important to me, and to be able to create this time capsule of both has been so incredibly special to me.”

“Some are co-workers, some local neighbourhood legends and regulars.”

“A few regulars would always say “See you next Tuesday” since that’s the only day I work at Sophie’s Bar”
